(GS-1) Orientation

Welcome to Workshop Angel!

There are two ways to learn a new system:

  • Get in and experiment.

  • Follow a structured set of tutorials.

If you want to get in and experiment, we recommend you follow this one orientation tutorial, and then go and play. There is a great in-app help system, and you can come back to this documentation to learn a specific detail.

If you'd like a more structured approach, then move on to the next lesson and follow the Getting Started tutorials from there.

Experimenters, watch or read on!

Orientation - Menu Structure

Along the top we have the main areas of the app. Here you can:

  • Work with your client Contacts

  • Define the different Activities (workshops, events, or classes) that you offer

  • Manage the Bookings you have for each activity

  • Manage the Messages (email / sms) that can be sent

  • Manage your Finances in terms of the invoices and payments that your clients have made.

The icon on the right side that you will use the most is for managing the app’s settings.

Working With Your Data

If we take a look in contacts as an example of the user interface style, you will see the idea of searching for items on the left side, and viewing items you select in the right.

Items on the right can be edited, then saved.

Items in the left may have several different views of their data available, and these are selected using the icons next to their listing in the left, or the local menu on the right. These data view icons are in the green-grey colour. Here you can see that a contact has views called "Details", "Notes" and "Finances".

Menu items which perform an action such as creating a new contact or creating an invoice are shown in purple.

Highly Detailed Help System

There is a highly detailed help system built into Workshop Angel. Just click on the small (?) icons next to each field to find out about the specific part of the system you are working with.

For a bigger picture and more explanation of specific processes, then the documentation pages you are reading here are the place to go - ten chapters of detailed and immersive reading!

Test and Live Mode

You can operate the app in “Test Mode” when you are learning how it works or testing out how your booking form will look for a new activity you are defining. In Test Mode, you will see your test contacts, bookings, messages and finances. Messages will be created but not sent, and card payments will use a dummy card number which does not take a real payment.

You can Switch from Test to Live mode in the top right hand corner, but stay in Test Mode while your are learning how the app works.

Adding Attendees

Three example Activities are already defined for you.

Learn how the booking process works with these steps:

Viewing Messages Created

Workshop Angel can send many types of messages to your attendees. As you learn how to use the app in Test Mode, these are created, but not actually sent.

Several of these messages are created and sent when a new booking is made.

Time to Explore

If you are the kind of person who learns by trying things out, then we recommend you now go and experience how the app works!

If you prefer a more directed and structured learning, then you will be best to work through the rest of the Getting Started section of the documentation and videos.

Any questions not answered during the Getting Started pages should have an answer in the more detailed sections of the documentation.

Feel free to post questions which the documentation cannot answer on our community forum where we will make sure you get an answer.

Happy learning! :-)
